Congratulations to SPPS 7th Grader Isabela Hockett for being selected as an "Amazing Kid" by Chemeketa Community College for her service work. Below is the article written by her nominator that appeared in the Woodburn Independent.
Despite being 12, Isabella has shown a lot of initiative and leadership skills. Having been touched by cancer in her family and at school, she started a fundraiser like Relay for Life at St. Paul Parochial School. She put it together in five days, complete with a penny war, art projects and more, raising more than $1,000. She even gave volunteers homemade thank you gifts. "This young lady impressed me more with her leadership ability and motivation skills than many adults that I have worked with on both professional and community events."
